This seminar offers an understanding of the characteristics of glass as a packaging material. The course will introduce the participants to techniques for the evaluation of flaw severity and how to distinguish
between functional and cosmetic defects.

1. An understanding of the characteristics of glass as a packaging material.
2. The fracture analysis skills needed to determine the cause of breakage problems.
3. An appreciation of the differences between molded and tubing vials.
4. The ability to categorize defect types and their sources.
5. Techniques to evaluate flaw severity and the distinction between functional and cosmetic defects.
6. The loads and stresses glassware must endure during normal various conditions of use.
